Gozo Towns and Villages
Victoria
The island's capital, named after the English monarch to commemorate her Silver Jubilee in 1897. The town has many sights, primarily the Citadel.
Marsalforn
Marsalforn is a popular resort with many restaurants and bars as well as diving and water sports clubs. Until the 17th century, it was the island's main port. Sights include a church dedicated to St. Paul dating back to 1730, and a scenic walk takes you to Qbajjar and Xwejni where salt pans dating back to Roman times are still in use.
Mgarr
Mgarr is Gozo's main harbour and fishing village. It also boasts a modern marina which hosts a large number of yachts and pleasure boats. The fishing port is a hive of activity throughout the year, with fishermen preparing their equipment or selling their catch. There are plenty of restaurants and bars serving fresh seafood.

Xlendi
Xlendi is a typical picturesque fishing village and a popular summer resort. It takes its name from a type of Byzantine vessel that used to shelter in this port. A statue of St. Andrew dominates the little harbour where fishing boats create a myriad of colours.
The cliffs bordering the inlet on the harbour side can be reached via a steep flight of steps cut into the rock. From the top one can either enjoy a magnificent bird's eye view of the harbour or proceed to the natural grotto known as "L-Ghar ta' Karolina" which used to be frequented by the nuns for swimming.

Xlendi
Sannat
A quaint agricultural village in southern Gozo, Sannat is one of the few places where you can still see lace being made. In the summer months you may see elderly women seated outside their homes making delicate shawls, table mats or lace-edged handkerchiefs. Sannat is also known for its carved stone balconies.
Xaghra
This village, situated on a high limestone plateau, has two famous caves natural stalactite and stalagmite formations. Ninu's Cave is entered down a flight of steps ending in a large chamber. The calcification of water dripping from the cave ceiling has formed magnificent columns standing side by side like a petrified forest. Xerri's Grotto, accessible via a narrow spiral staircase, offers a circular tour about 30m long. You can see interesting calcification formations, and stalactite and stalagmite formations resembling a tortoise, a vulture, a giraffe and a pair of elephant's ears.
